GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

Bus

Bus services to Istanbul and the surrounding region are excellent. Buses are very reasonably priced. A Havas shuttle bus service into the centre of Istanbul takes 30-45 minutes. Buses depart frequently. You can also travel cheaply from Sabiba Gokcen to Ataturk airport in as little as three hours by public bus, taking in lots of the stunning Turkish scenery on the way.

Train & Boat

The Haydarpasa-Gebze Express is available, departing from nearby Pendik Train Station, which is easy to get to by taxi. There are also regular suburban train services. If you fancy a change from buses and trains and are looking for a fun way to see Turkey, the IDO Sea Bus Port is located just 5 miles from the airport, The sea bus can take you to neighbouring towns and cities, as well as to different districts of Istanbul.

Driving

The airport is very convenient for those wishing to drive through Turkey. Situated right next to the gorgeous Anatolian coastline, the airport is only 1.5km away from the TEM motorway, the link between Istanbul and Ankara. If you are driving to the airport from Istanbul, take the E-6 express highway or the E-5 highway and follow signs to the airport, taking the Pendik/Kurtköy exit. Driving is a great way to experience this exquisite part of Turkey. You can hire cars at Sabiha Gökçen from reputable global and domestic hire firms, including Hertz, WCR World Rent a Car and Avis. Taxis are available outside the Airport terminal 24 hours a day, but these can be expensive if you are travelling to Istanbul city centre. It is cheaper to take a bus or train.

CAR PARKING

The new multi-storey car park has four levels and a capacity of 4718 vehicles and 72 buses for long and short stays. If you are parking for more than a day or need a subscription for long term parking, it will be worth contacting the car park before your flight arrives to discuss parking options and prevent being over charged. If you are dropping off a passenger it is worth noting that cars are not permitted to stop on the curb at the front of the terminal, and your car may be towed if you do. Instead, you can use the short stay car park provided next to the terminal building.

Both short term stay and long term stay are available within walking distance of both the domestic and international terminals. Short-term parking is also available next to the main terminal building. Paypoints are located in the car park buildings and parking fees can be easily paid in cash or by credit card. Automatic paypoints are also available, where you can quickly pay car parking fees by credit card.

There are 400 valet parking spots available. Simply drop your car off at the terminal forecourt and have your car delivered to you when you return. A car wash is located on the -1 red car parking level. For maps, diagrams and more information on car parking facilities visit the airport website, where there is also a handy parking fee calculator where you can check how much it will cost to park your car: www.sabihagokcen.aero/parking
