Airport Directions to Sabiha Gökçen Airport - Buses
Bus services from Sabiha Gökçen to surrounding Turkey and into Istanbul itself are excellent and very reasonable for a traveller looking for cheap transport throughout the region.
A Havas shuttle bus service into Istanbul centre takes 30-45 minutes and departs regularly from the airport after each flight arrival.
You can also travel cheaply from Sabiba Gokcen to Ataturk airport in as little as three hours by public bus, taking in lots of the stunning Turkish scenery on the way.
Driving to Sabiha Gökçen International Airport
Happily the geographical position of Sabiba Gökçen Airport is very convenient for those wishing to drive through Turkey. Situated right next to the gorgeous Anatolian coastline, the airport is situated only 1.5km away from the TEM motorway, the link between Istanbul and Ankara.
If you are driving to the airport from Istanbul, take the E-6 express highway or the E-5 highway and follow signs to the airport, taking the Pendik/Kurtköy exit. Driving is a great way to experience this exquisite part of Turkey, and you can hire cars at Sabiha Gökçen from reputable global and domestic hire firms, including Hertz, WCR World Rent a Car and Avis.
Taxis are available outside the Airport terminal 24 hours a day, but these can be expensive if you are travelling to Istanbul itself, and it is often cheaper to take a bus or train.
Other transport from the airport
The Haydarpasa-Gebze Express is available, departing from nearby Pendik Train Station, which is easy to get to by taxi.
There are also regular suburban train services. If you fancy a change from buses and trains and are looking for a more fun way to see Turkey, the IDO Sea Bus Port is located just 5 miles away from Sabiha Gökçen, and can take you to neighbouring towns and cities, as well as to different districts of Istanbul itself.
