Flights to the USA

The majority of UK holidaymakers head for the key Florida airports in Orlando and the classic city break destinations of Las Vegas and New York. These are all very popular routes. Strong competition between airlines keeps prices low.

The USA is very well served from the UK, with routes from London and a wide choice of regional airports. Flying from a regional airport need not add a great deal to the price of the fare.

Many of the cheapest flights with scheduled airlines are indirect. A direct flight will probably be a bit more expensive. Airlines with direct flights include British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and a short list of foreign airlines like Iberia, KLM, PIA and United Airlines. Charter flights to Florida are direct.

The best deals are usually found from Belfast International, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow International. Connecting flights enable departures from smaller regional airports, often at surprisingly little extra cost.

The most popular airports are listed below. See our individual airport pages for details of routes, airlines, UK departure points and local airport transport.

Orlando Sanford Airport (SFB)

The main destination airport for charter holiday flights to Florida. Almost all flights are with tour operators Thomson, Thomas Cook and Monarch. All routes are seasonal, starting between March and May and ending in October or November. A few routes may only operate in peak summer or over the Christmas holiday period.
