Abruzzo Airport (commonly known as Pescara Airport) is the gateway to Abruzzo: a scenic region with dramatic mountain landscapes, superb national parks, medieval castles and fine food. The airport is also well placed for beach resorts on the Adriatic coast, stretching north from Pescara towards Ancona. The city of Pescara is just 4km from the terminal. It is a 2 hour drive from Rome. This is a quiet regional airport with a couple of shops, a café, a snack bar and a restaurant. There are just a handful of flights every day. The airport opened to passenger traffic in 1996.
Recent years have seen economical direct flights with low-cost airline Ryanair. They currently operate year-round flights from London Stansted.
