Low-cost flights from a range of regional airports
Flybe began life in 1979 as Jersey European Airways, formerly Intra Airways. In June 2000, the company became British European, before becoming established as Flybe in 2002, with the new budget airline offering low-cost flights to the UK and Europe. In 2007, Flybe acquired BA Connect, code sharing with British Airways on several routes, and in December 2010, became a public company. The airline maintains a fleet of 71 aircraft, which features Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, and both Embraer E-175 and 195, with an average aircraft age of just over 4 years. Flybe's headquarters are at Exeter Airport, with its largest base in Southampton, and other major bases in Manchester, Birmingham and Belfast. The airline has smaller operations in Aberdeen, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, London Gatwick and Newcastle, with departures from other regional airports including Norwich, Bournemouth, Bristol, Doncaster, Inverness, Wick, Knock and Kirkwall. As well as its standard economy service, Flybe offers seats on Flybe Economy Plus, a fully flexible premium service, which include the benefits of free online check-in, free pre-seat selection and increased baggage allowance. The airline also boasts a loyalty programme, Rewards4all, where passengers earn points whenever they fly, which can be redeemed for Flybe flights, upgrades and access to Executive Lounges.
