Trieste Airport (TRS)

Trieste Airport is the gateway to Friuli Venezia Giulia: an appealing region of northern Italy that combines beach holiday resorts and rustic countryside. The airport is also well placed for beach resorts on the Upper Adriatic like Grado and Lignano Trieste airport buses run regularly to Monfalcone train station on the Trieste-Venice line. Trieste bus station has good connections with Slovenia and Croatia. Winter flights are useful for accessing the little-known ski resorts of the eastern Alps. The city of Trieste is 33km from the airport.

This is a small regional airport with a couple of shops, a snack bar and a restaurant.

Recent years have seen economical direct flights with low-cost airline Ryanair. They currently operate year-round flights from London Stansted. Ryanair also operate a seasonal route from Birmingham, often beginning at the end of March and ending in October.

Local Transport

  • APT Gorizia buses uses connect the airport with Triestecity centre. Buses depart every 15 minutes. Tickets cost € 3.50. Journey time 50 minutes. Buy tickets from the machines in the arrivals hall. www.aptgorizia.it.

  • Buses also head for Gorizia, Monfalcone, Grado and Udine.
