Sao Paolo Airport (GRU)

Sao Paolo-Guarulhos International Airport is one of the busiest airports in Brazil. The airport opened in 1980 to replace the old Sao Paolo-Congonhas Airport. Work began on a third terminal and a third runway in 2010. Further improvements are planned for the influx of visitors for the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016. These will significantly improve the quality of the terminals and facilities like shops and restaurants. The airport is 25km north east of the city centre. The lowest fares are frequently found with British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss Air, TAM, Iberia, Air France and Emirates. The cheapest option may be an indirect flight. Flight options from the UK are likely to improve ahead of upcoming international sporting events.
