Every flight search should include two airports: Rome Fiumicino and Rome Ciampino. Fiumicino is the main city airport. Rome Ciampino is used by Ryanair and often has the cheapest flights. Both airports have good transport connections into the centre of Rome.

Reasonably priced flights from regional UK airports are often available from airlines like KLM, Air Berlin, Alitalia, Vueling, Germanwings, Air France and Lufthansa. These are usually indirect. The lowest fares are often from London Stansted.

Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

The main airport serving Rome. 35km from the city. Excellent train connections with centrally located Termini train station in 30 minutes. Economical direct flights with EasyJet from Bristol and London Gatwick. Jet2.com operates routes from Glasgow International, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle. Well-priced flights with Norwegian and British Airways from Gatwick. Also economical fares with Monarch from London Luton, Leeds Bradford and Birmingham.

Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA)

Major Italian base for Ryanair. 15km from the city centre. Good bus connections into Rome city centre in 40 minutes. Ryanair currently operate routes from London Stansted, Manchester, Edinburgh, East Midlands and Glasgow Prestwick.
