Rio de Janeiro Flights

Rio de Janeiro Airport (GIG)

Galeao International is one of the busiest airports in Brazil. A new second terminal was opened in 1999.Large-scale improvements are underway for the influx of visitors for the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic in 2016. These will significantly improve the quality of the terminals and the provision of shops and restaurants. The airport is 20km north of the city centre. There are hotels next to the airport terminal. The lowest fares are frequently found with British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss Air, TAM, Iberia, Air France and Emirates. The cheapest option may be an indirect flight. Flight options from the UK are likely to improve ahead of upcoming international sporting events.
