Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG)

Pudong Airport is the main airport for Shanghai and is a major hub airport in Asia. The airport is 30km from the city centre. It takes about an hour to get to People's Square. This is a huge airport, with two main passenger terminals and a third planned for 2015. There is a wide choice of shops and restaurants. An amazing high speed train whisks arriving passengers into the city.

The cheapest flights are normally from London Heathrow. You should also find reasonable fares from Glasgow International, Newcastle, Birmingham and Edinburgh, but many of these flights will be indirect.

Airlines offering well-priced flights include British Airways, China Eastern, Virgin Atlantic, KLM, Emirates, United, Air France, Lufthansa and SAS.

Local Transport

Pudong Airport is connected to the city's urban rail network through Metro Line 2 and the amazing high-speed Shanghai Maglev train. Departures every 15 minutes.

Several bus lines serve Pudong International Airport from points throughout the city. Buses depart every 15-to-30 minutes. A special shuttle bus service runs to People's Square, Jing'An Temple, both railway stations, and Hongqiao Airport. The Hotel Shuttle Bus serves the major hotels.

Taxis depart from the Arrivals Hall. There are different queues for different length journeys.
