Perugia Airport (also known as San Francesco d'Assisi Airport) is perfectly placed for Umbria, a gorgeous region often overlooked in the rush to neighbouring Tuscany. The airport is an ideal entry point for tours of wonderful medieval towns like Orvieto and Todi. The terminal was extended and modernized in 2011. This is a very quiet regional airport. Ryanair flights account for a large proportion of passenger traffic. The airport is just 12km from Perugia city centre.
Recent years have seen economical direct flights with low-cost airline Ryanair. They currently fly all year round from London Stansted.
