GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

Metro

Getting to the airport from Newcastle city centre is easy thanks to Newcastle International Airport Metro station. Regular metro trains depart from Newcastle Central train station. Journey time from Newcastle Central is 23 minutes. Trains are very frequent. The metro station is directly linked to the airport terminal.

Train

The Metro connects the airport with Newcastle Central railway station. Mainline trains from Newcastle Central run north to Glasgow and Edinburgh and south to London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester.

Bus

Regular bus services run to Newcastle city centre Eldon Square. National Express services run to towns and cities nationwide.

Driving

Getting to the airport by car is straightforward. Newcastle Airport is easily accessed from the A1 and A 696 dual carriageway. If you are using a satellite navigation system, the postcode is NE13 8BZ. Approximate driving times are: Newcastle 15 minutes; Durham 45 minutes; Edinburgh 2 hours; Leeds 2 hours; Glasgow 3 hours; Manchester 3 hours. Cars can drop off passengers at the Pick Up & Drop Off short stay car park near the terminal building. The first 10 minutes is free. Information on road works and traffic is available from the AA.

CAR PARKING

All official car parks are of a high standard, well-supervised and close to the terminal building. Short stay parking is ideal for stays of a few hours. Long-stay parking is the most economical. A 24 hour free shuttle bus service connects long stay car park with the airport terminal in a couple of minutes. With the Meet & Greet valet parking service you simply drive to short stay car park 3 and your car will be parked for you. Disabled parking is available in the short stay car parks.

The Drop-Off & Pick Up car park is right outside the terminal and is designed for stays of up to 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes are free. For maximum convenience choose Short Stay Fast Track Car Park, which has direct access to the terminal and fast-track priority through security.

Prices depend on the car park and length of stay. The cheapest airport parking is normally found by booking well in advance or taking advantage of special offers. The airport website has full details of official parking prices. You may also find cheap parking at hotels and “off-airport” car parks.
