GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

Taxi

The easiest way to get around in Marrakech is to hop in one of the many taxis, and the airport is no exception as there is a large taxi rank. Choose either a 'grand taxi' for up to six passengers or a 'petite' taxi for up to three. Grand taxis are not permitted in the Medina in Marrakech, so bear this in mind depending on your destination. There are several rules to remember when taking a taxi in Marrakech or you risk being over charged. Always get the taxi driver to put the meter on before you depart, or agree a price before you get in. Tthe airport should be a 15 or 20 minute ride from the centre of Marrakech.

Bus

Several of the larger hotels in Marrakech offer a great bus transfer service between the hotel and the airport, so keep an eye out when you book your hotel and see if this is an option for you. There is also a convenient general bus running between the airport and the Jemaa el-Fna (the main square) every 20-30 minutes throughout the week (less at weekends). Look out for Bus number 11.

Driving

The airport is located in a very convenient position for travellers wishing to get to Marrakech and for those heading further into Morocco. Just 15 minutes south of the centre of Marrakech, it's easy to get to if you are thinking of driving, and there are many car rental companies at the airport including Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz. If you are driving towards the airport from Marrakech centre, head south towards Les Jardins De La Manara and you will find the airport just beyond the gardens with the entrance to the south.

CAR PARKING

There is one car park and it's very easy to find. Drive south from Marrakech following signs to Marrakech Menara airport, and you will see the car park directly in front of the terminals as you drive in. The car park has 363 parking spaces for all sorts of vehicles, including cars, motorbikes, vans and coaches, so you are sure to find a space to suit your needs.

You can park for both long and short term periods. Long term parking is usually considered over a week-long stay. Short stay parking can be anything up to a few days. Parking prices are low but check with the airport before you park to find out the costs of your parking requirements.

AIRPORT AMENITIES

Travellers will find all the conveniences they could wish for, including for all your financial needs, banks, ATMs and a bureau de change, and for any last minute gifts or travel essentials, duty free shops and boutiques. There is also a post office and a cafe within the airport. If you need anything then head for the tourist information desks where someone will be happy to assist you. You will also find internet access.

If you have some time to spare between flights you can head to the beautiful Les Jardin de la Menara, a Moroccan garden filled with olive groves and situated right next to the airport. Head to the cafe for some coffee and Moroccan delicacies or browse the range of stores in the airport for last minute shopping.
