GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

By Bus

Ibiza has two kinds of buses; public buses and private shuttle buses. If you’re on a package holiday, your transfers will probably have been arranged for you. Otherwise, if you’re heading for a resort near Girona Airport you can pre-book a shuttle bus via a firm called Shuttle Direct. (www.shuttledirect.com/en/airport). The island’s authorities have recently extended their bus services to take into account late flight arrivals, so transport across Ibiza will find travelling from the airport to their hotel, apartment or villa easier and cheaper then ever.

Driving

Getting to Ibiza airport by car is very simple and straightforward because there’s just one main access road, the PM-801 Ibiza Airport Motorway. You can also find your way there via the PM-803 Ibiza to San Jose motorway; just don’t forget to look out for the exit! Ibiza is the biggest island in the Balearics and is easy and fun to explore by car.

Taxis & Car Hire

As you’d expect there are masses of taxis waiting outside the terminal. The journey time to Ibiza town is about 20 minutes and you can also travel by taxi to the resorts at Playa den Bossa, San Juan, San Antonio, Santa Eulalia and San Jose. Car hire is good value and you’ll discover the usual choice of car hire firms at the airport. You’ll also find car hire offices in the major towns. It is always a good idea to book your hire car in advance online if at all possible. They’ll be able to guarantee the car you want and negotiate the best price for you.

CAR PARKING

Car parks tend to cater for locals because most tourist packages include transfers to and from the airport via courtesy coach or bus. The car park – as opposed to the coach pick up and drop off area - is relatively small with just 496 parking spaces, five of which are reserved for disabled travellers.

Parking is directly in front of the main terminal. There are almost 500 car parking spaces at the airport and you’ll enjoy free parking for a maximum of 15 minutes at the Blue Zone - Zona Azul in Spanish - for quick pick ups and drop offs. If you want to park your car for longer go to Car Park P1, where you can linger for up to half an hour without being charged. The main airport car park is also directly opposite the terminal building. You can pay for your parking at the machines by cash or credit card on your way home. If you are disabled you can use one of five special parking spaces, all very convenient with easy access to the terminal building. Blue Zone Pick up and drop off - 15 minutes free.

AIRPORT AMENITIES

You’ll find the airport information desk in Arrivals, staffed with friendly locals who know all about the island. There’s also a tourist information office at Arrivals, run by the Ibiza and Formentera Island Council. If you need cash, no worries… there’s cash point machines, a Bureaux de Change and a bank. If you find yourself sitting waiting for your flight writing last-minute postcards, there’s also a post office in the airport! You’ll find plenty of fast food restaurants, bars and snack shops plus the usual Duty Free outlet, most shops being on the first floor.

Ibiza airport doesn’t have a left-luggage facility but if you’re there on holiday, that shouldn’t concern you! There’s a useful lost property office in Arrivals plus a first aid station, a load of travel agencies and more than twenty tour operators on site. Ibiza Airport is great for disabled passengers and travellers, offering easy access throughout with special lifts, accessible pavements, specially adapted public payphones and, of course, toilets. There are five dedicated parking spaces for the disabled.
