Flights to Goa head for Dabolim, the only airport in the state. The airport accounts for a very large proportion of all holiday flights from the UK to India. Dabolim Airport is ideally placed for resorts in North Goa and South Goa, including Arossim, Betalbatim, Cavelossim, Sinquerim and Vainguinium. Transfer times are rarely more than an hour. The resort of Bogmalo is just 3 miles from the airport.
Flight time is around 10 hours. Most budget flights involve a refuelling stop in an airport like Bahrain. Scheduled flights usually involve a change of plane in Indian hub airports like Mumbai. Work is nearing completion on a new terminal building and extensive renovation of the entire airport. There is a reasonable choice of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.
The best deals are with charter airlines like Momarch, Thomson and Thomas Cook. These are seasonal and usually depart from Gatwick and Manchester. The vast majority of flights are seasonal, arriving during the main beach holiday season from October to mid-April. The best deals are often found at the beginning and end of the season. Aside from seasonal charter flights you should find reasonable fares from airlines like Swiss Air, Aeroflot, Jet Airways, Qatar Airways, British Airways and Lufthansa. The cheapest fares are frequently from Manchester, Heathrow and Birmingham. Flights are indirect.
