Girona Airport is located 13km from the town of Girona. The airport is ideally placed for the beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava and the popular resorts of Platja D’Aro, Calella, Esartit, Playa de Pals, Pineda de Mar, Malgrat and Blanes. Girona also serves resorts on the the Costa Dorada like Salou, Cambrils, La Pineda and Sitges. The airport offers access to Spain’s best-known theme park, Universal Port Aventura. It is also a useful entry point for the eastern Pyrenees and ski resorts in Andorra.
In common with Reus to the south, Girona is often included in a list of Barcelona airports. Do note that Girona Airport is 57 miles north of Barcelona. However, bus services to Barcelona are designed to link with the arrival of Ryanair flights from the UK. Intense competition between charter and low-cost airlines means some of the lowest airfares to Spain. Flights tend to be more expensive during the summer school holiday period. Many of the best deals are found in early spring and autumn. It is always worth booking as well in advance as possible.
The best deals are usually found with low-cost airline Ryanair. Girona is a major hub airport for Ryanair. They currently operate routes from Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Doncaster Sheffield, Manchester, Newcastle, London Luton and London Stansted. The availability of flights increases during the long summer season, when UK tour operator Thomson provides charter flights from regional airports like Birmingham. Some routes may be seasonal. These may begin as early as April or May. Others operate only in the peak summer months.

Ryanair buses connect the airport with Barcelona Nord bus station. Buses depart about 25 minutes after flights arrive. Tickets cost €15.00. Journey time is 60 minutes.
Buses depart every hour for Girona Bus Station. Tickets cost €2.60
A summer –season bus heads for the Costa Brava towns of Figueres, Empuriabrava and Roses. July and August only.
Buses for the Costa Brava resorts of Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar and Blanes depart 7 times daily Monday to Friday.
Twice daily buses to Vic, Manresa, Cervera, Tàrrega and Lleida
Twice daily buses to Andorra. Tickets cost €31. May to November only.
Buses run to the French towns of Le Boulou and Perpignan. During the skiing season there is a combined service to Les Angles/Font Romeu, and in summer to Argeles-sur-Mer and Canet/Le Barcares.
