GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

Train

Exeter has two railway stations. Regular fast trains run between London Paddington and Exeter St David’s station, and you can get to Exeter easily via Cornwall and Devon on the same line. From London Waterloo, you can catch a fast train to Exeter Central station, which carries on to Devon and Exmouth. Tiverton Parkway station is twelve miles away from Exeter Airport and regular trains from London Paddington stop here. Local trains run between Digby and Sowton - just two and a half miles from Exeter Airport – and Exeter St Davids, Devon and Exmouth. From the two Exeter railway stations and from Digby & Sowton you can easily catch a local taxi to the airport. The price difference between booking rail tickets in advance and buying them on the day can be enormous. The earlier you book your train journey, the less it’ll cost! You can get fast, up to date information at National Rail Enquiries, either by phone or online.

Bus

Exeter Airport is well served with frequent local buses from the city centre. Catch the number 56 bus, which runs between Exeter St David’s station, the bus station, the airport and Exmouth. Note, there are no buses on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Or catch the 379 bus from Exeter St David’s station which runs to and from the bus station, the airport and Sidmouth. Again, this service doesn’t run on Sundays and Bank Holidays. There’s a link to the city’s bus guide on the airport website, along with details about First Travel (where you can pre-book your train and bus tickets), National Express coaches, Stagecoach and Western greyhound. It’s always a good idea to book Exeter bus and train tickets in advance so you avoid queues and stay on schedule.

Driving

Exteter Airport is situated five miles from the city centre, just off the A30 and only a mile and a half from the M5 motorway. You’ll find all routes into the airport well marked and signposted, so you shouldn’t have any problems getting there by car. The nearest petrol station is on Junction 29, just five minutes away. Check for road delays via the Highways Agency website www.trafficengland.com so you’re prepared with a sensible route. Try consulting the AA’s excellent Route Planner for detailed directions.

CAR PARKING

Exeter Airport has four car parks. Car park 1 is short stay and car parks 2, 3 and 4 are long stay. Short stay and drop off car park 1 is just 50 yards from the terminal entrance, opposite Departures. You can pay either at the barrier or at a special Pay Station. Being so close the terminal, this car park isn’t served by the airport’s shuttle bus. Long stay car park 2 offers executive rates and sits a little further away from the terminal building, right on the approach road. Again, it isn’t served by the shuttle bus as it is so close to the terminal. You pay either at the barrier or via a Pay Station. Long stay car parks 3 and 4 are further away from the terminal.

All four car parks are within quarter of an hour’s walk of the terminal building, and car parks 3 and 4 are served by the airport’s smart, regular shuttle bus. Car park 1 is dedicated to short stay, and is closest to the terminal. The furthest away is number 4, at a quarter of a mile away on the airport service road. Good facilities for disabled parking and special travel assistance.

Car Parking can be booked in advance either online or by telephone. To book online follow the link from the airport website, complete all four simple booking steps, pay (by credit/debit card but not Solo or Electron), taking care to note down your booking reference and instructions. Or book parking by telephone. Again, you can pay by credit or debit card, but not by Solo or Electron.
