GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

Train

The closest railway station is Doncaster, seven miles away, in the city centre. Doncaster is a major train station and there are plenty of trains linking Doncaster to other major cities and towns. In London, you’ll depart from St Pancras and arrive in Doncaster a couple of hours later. Wherever you’re travelling from, bear in mind that early bookings make you great savings on train tickets. Buying your rail tickets on the day can be very expensive. Save yourself some time and buy a through-ticket including bus transfers. All you need to do is mention that you’re going to Robin Hood Airport.

Bus

Doncaster is on the route of the National Express’s East Coast Line. Robin Hood Airport has really good local bus connections too. Five buses an hour leave from the town’s new interchange, one of which is the 707 Airport shuttle bus. The 707 connects Doncaster train station with the airport - wait at the A1 stand at Doncaster Interchange to catch this smart hourly bus. The journey takes around twenty five minutes. Because it’s a specialist bus, the 707 is air conditioned for extra comfort, has plenty of specially designed extra luggage space and CCTV.

Driving

Robin Hood Airport is convenient for drivers, easily accessible from the UK’s major motorway network. If you’re approaching from Hull or Liverpool, use the M62. The M1 gives you easy access too, if you’re coming from London or Leeds. The A1, which joins London and Edinburgh, runs close by, as does the M18. Doncaster Sheffield Airport mainly caters for travellers from Yorkshire and Humberside, and it is also convenient for Sheffield, Leeds, Hull, York and Lincoln. If you're a fan of satnav, this tip will help: set ‘Hayfield Lane, Doncaster’ as your destination, rather than setting your satnav for the airport, then follow the signs from there. Like most regional airports, it is clearly signposted. If you prefer maps to satnav, consult the AA Route Planner for detailed directions.

CAR PARKING

Doncaster Sheffield has excellent car parking facilities. Their secure online booking system lets you book online if you’re planning to park up for more than 24 hours. If you need special assistance, there’s a convenient specially designated parking area close to the terminal. If you’re disabled and just want to pick up or drop off, remember that you can’t leave your car unattended. The airport recommends using the special disabled bays in the main car park.

There is a massive on site car park, with more than 2500 parking spaces, conveniently situated right next to the terminal building. Doncaster Sheffield holds a ‘Park Mark’ Safer Parking Award! The award proves that parking is safe and secure: an environment that makes it very hard for criminals to commit crimes. It is lit brightly and your car is monitored 24/7 using state of the art CCTV. Paying is easy and fast, with smart pay-on-foot systems and plenty of machines to minimise queues.

The airport website offers competitive ‘Early Bird' car parking rates when you book far enough in advance. The offer is exclusive, only available via the pre-booking system on the website. To qualify, you need to book your car parking space at least ten days in advance. There’s also a special 'Getaway' discount for travellers who book between 9am and 1pm one day before they fly. And there’s a new premium car park right next to the terminal building and a short trot from check in.
