Catania Airport (CTA)

Catania-Vincenzo Bellini Airport is the busiest airport in Sicily. The airport is located on the east coast of the island. The airport is 5km from Catania. There are a few shops, a bar, a bank and a couple of restaurants. A new terminal opened in 2007.

Recent years have seen economical direct flights with low-cost airline EasyJet. They currently operate year-round flights from London Gatwick. The beach holiday season sees an increase in flights. Thomson fly from Gatwick and Manchester between May and October. You should also find affordable seasonal flights with British Airways from London Gatwick.

Flying from airports other than London and Manchester remains problematic. Indirect flights are available with airlines like Lufthansa, Air Berlin, Brussels Airlines, Alitalia, Swiss, Air Malta, British Airways, KLM and Air France. These will almost certainly be much more expensive than flights with EasyJet.
