GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

Train

The airport has its own station on the West Coast Mainline: Birmingham International. Trains from London to Birmingham International take just 75 minutes. A free Air Rail Link monorail connects Birmingham International with the airport every 10 minutes. Journey time is 2 minutes. The Air Rail Link runs from 0515 to 0200. If you arrive at Birmingham New Street in the city centre, there are regular trains to Birmingham International. The journey takes 15 minutes. Birmingham has excellent mainline train links nationwide. Train companies serving Birmingham include Virgin, CrossCountry and London Midland.

By Bus

Airport buses stop at the bus and coach terminus at Terminal 2. National Express coaches arrive from cities like Manchester, Coventry, Northampton, Rugby, Wolverhampton, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge. Buses from London Victoria take about 4 hours. There are also bus links with Luton Airport, Stansted Airport and Manchester Airport. Digbeth Coach Station, in the city centre, is a major hub for National Express coaches, with excellent connections nationwide. The 900 Airlink bus connects Birmingham Airport with Digbeth Coach Station 2-3 times an hour. The journey takes 20 minutes. There are frequent local buses to Birmingham city centre and the surrounding area.

Driving

Driving is straightforward, with easy access from the M1, M5, M6, the M6 Toll and M40 motorways. Birmingham Airport is 8 miles south east of Birmingham city centre, on the A45 Coventry to Birmingham road, close to junction 6 of the M42. If you are relying on satellite navigation, the postcode is B26 3QJ. Cars can drop off passengers at the Rapid Drop-Off zone, Short-Stay and Long-Stay car parks. Black cabs arrive and depart from the Millennium Link bridge between the 2 terminals. Taxis can be booked in advance. They carry up to 5 passengers. CAR PARKING

Prices depend on the type of car park and length of stay. There are at least 5 companies offering airport parking. Prices may be higher during the peak summer months. The cheapest parking is normally found by booking well in advance. You can pre-book parking with Directline. Some of the cheapest offers are found at hotels, B&B and “off-airport” car parks in the vicinity. Prices for off-airport car parks offer good value and usually depend on the distance from the airport. Most off-site car parks arrange transfers to the terminals. Many hotels also offer cheap parking deals

All official car parks are of a high standard and well-supervised. Short term parking is recommended for stays of up to 5 hours. Multi-storey parking is all a very short walk from the terminal building. The multi-storey car parks are suitable for drop-offs, short stay and short weekend break holidays. If your flights involves a longer time away, you will find long-stay and off-site parking more economical. Long stay car parks are further from the terminals than the short stay and multi-storey car parks. A free shuttle bus runs to the terminals if you do not wish to walk. With the Meet and Greet valet parking service you simply drive to the terminal and your car will be parked for you.

No waiting is allowed on the roads surrounding the airport. The ‘Rapid Drop-Off’ area close to Terminals 1 & 2 and is intended for drop-off only. Free drop-off facilities are available in the surface Long-Stay car parks, with up to 60 minutes of free parking. Regular free buses connect the ‘free’ drop-off and the terminals.
