Zadar Airport (ZAD)

Zadar airport is the gateway to the picturesque Dalmatia region and a stretch of Adriatic coastline to the northwest of Croatia, famous for its excellent beaches, sparkling bays and stylish marinas. The airport is well placed for the Krka, Plitvice and Paklenica national parks, popular Adriatic beaches and dozens of picturesque offshore islands. The city of Zadar has charming winding streets, fascinating Roman architecture, good restaurants and lively bars. Zadar Airport is located in Zemunik Donji, 8km from Zadar railway station. This is a very small regional airport with a snack bar, restaurant and duty-free shop. Departures and arrivals are a very relaxed.

The vast majority of flights are seasonal, with few airlines maintaining routes outside the summer beach holiday months. Recent years have seen seasonal flights from the UK with low-cost airline Ryanair. At present, the most reliable service is with Ryanair from London Stansted and East Midlands. Ryanair are to start a service from Liverpool in 2013. Flight time is about 2 hours. Reasonably priced indirect flights can be found with Croatia Airlines. Indirect flights from regional airports are found with British Airways, Lufthansa and Swiss Air.
