XL Airways is an English charter airline based in Crawley, Sussex. Established in 1994 as Sabre Airways, XL Airways is part of the XL Leisure Group and the trading name for XL Airways UK Limited. XL Airways France and XL Airways Germany are also members within the group using the XL Airways branding. In January 2005, the Excel Airways Group launched XL.com and in November 2006 Excel Airways was officially renamed as XL Airways as part of a major brand re-launch. The sister airlines in Germany and France were also re-branded. As of the 2007-2008 season, XL Airways will be the new sponsors of Premiership football team West Ham United.
