Tampere Airport (TMP)

Tampere-Pirkkala Airport 13 km south-west of Tampere city centre. The airport is the third busiest in Finland. The lively university city of Tampere is just over 100 miles from the capital Helsinki. The city enjoys easy access to Finland’s stunning Western Lake District.

This is a small regional airport. Getting through arrivals and departures is fast and hassle free. There is a café, a restaurant and a couple of shops and duty free. There is free wireless internet in both terminals. Flights with low-cost airline Ryanair offer a very economical way into the region. Recent years have seen Ryanair flights departing from London Stansted and Edinburgh. Reasonably priced indirect flights are often available from Finnair, SAS and Air Baltic.

Local Transport

A regular connection from Tampere railway station to Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is operated by Väinö Paunu Oy. Terminal 1 is connected to the city by a Paunu city bus service (route 61). Terminal 2 has a Ryanair link to the railway station. Buses to Helsinki via Tampere bus station.
