SOUTH OF ENGLAND – AIRPORTS & FLIGHT INFORMATION

By far the widest choice of airlines and destinations is found at London Gatwick. Residents of the South of England should also consider airports at Southampton, Bournemouth and Kent.

GATWICK AIRPORT

The UK’s main departure points for package holidays. Also a very high volume of low-cost flights, led by Easyjet. Thomson and Thomas Cook figure prominently in the summer season. There are also a number domestic UK routes and long-haul destiantions.

SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT

Important UK departure point for budget airline Flybe. The summer season sees Flybe operating routes to holiday destinations throughout Europe. A wide choice of destinations includes many of the key holiday airports in Spain and Portugal. A strong presence from Flybe ensures an excellent choice of European city destinations. Flights head for 14 different airports in France alone. Also routes to cities in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland. Seasonal winter flights head for key ski holiday airports in Switzerland, Austria and France. Also flights to the Republic of Ireland and domestic airports in England, Scotland and Northern Island.

BOURNEMOUTH AIRPORT

An important UK departure point for low-cost airline Ryanair. Bournemouth also has a few scheduled flights with Aer Lingus and Blue Islands. The summer season sees Thomson operating routes to beach holiday destinations. The vast majority of flights head for sunshine holiday regions in Spain, Greece, Turkey, Malta, Portugal and Italy.

One of the UK’s quietest airports. The only airline is KLM, who offer flights to Amsterdam. Very occasional one-off charter flight package holidays to destinations like Naples, Oporto and Verona.
