Milan Bergamo (also known as Orio Al Serio) is the 4th busiest airport in Italy. The airport is 4km from Bergamo and 45km from Milan. Although not the nearest airport to Milan it is often the cheapest way into the region. The airport is the favoured entry point for low-cost airlines. There are excellent bus connections to Milan. The onward journey takes about an hour. The airport has a good choice of shops and a couple of bars and restaurants.
Bergamo is exceptionally well served by Ryanair. The airport is a major Italian base for the Irish low-cost airline. Ryanair flights account for a large part of the airport’s passenger traffic. They currently operate flights from Manchester, Leeds Bradford, East Midlands, Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow Prestwick and London Stansted. Some routes are seasonal.
Indirect flights may be available from other UK airports with Lufthansa. These will almost certainly be a quite a lot more expensive than flights with Ryanair.
If flights are not available you could try Milan Linate or Milan Malpensa.
