GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

Bus

A special Carris airport shuttle bus will take you directly to and from the centre of Lisbon in approximately 20 minutes for a very reasonable price, and these buses will also run beyond Lisbon as far as Cascais in the west of the country. Further away locations such as Estoril are served by the Scotturb bus shuttle. Town bus lines also connect Lisbon airport to the centre of Lisbon, usually bus numbers 5, 22, 44, 45 and 83.

Driving

Lisbon Airport lies on the A1 from Porto to Lisbon, and is only a few kilometres away from the centre of Lisbon, Portugal's vibrant capital city. This proximity means that you can expect road networks to be very good, and while you can most likely rely on roadside sign posts to get you where you need to go, it is worth taking a map or checking out an online route planner before you set off. You can easily rent a car from within the airport itself from such respected and world renowned car rental agencies as Hertz, Europcar and AVIS.

Train

The proximity of the airport to the nearby rail network is convenient, and as Portugal has a largely very efficient rail network, you can often take a train to wherever you need to get to in Portugal. Plans to connect the airport to the Lisbon metro system are currently in progress, so watch this space. Until the new metro station is completed you can take a taxi to the nearest railway station.

Taxi

Taxi ranks with metered taxis are situated right outside the airport, and connect you to the centre of Lisbon quickly and efficiently for around €10 depending on traffic conditions. Taxis can also take you to the nearby railway station or other destinations such as Alfornelos, Bobadela or Amadora

CAR PARKING

Car parks are easy to navigate and convenient, with both long term and short term parking available. There are several car parks to choose from. Car park 1 is located near to Departures and car park 2 is located next to Arrivals a bit further from the terminal. Car park 3 is a long term outdoor car park located to the right of the terminal near the entrance. For passengers with mobility concerns or for those carrying a lot of luggage, there is a free airport bus shuttle service between the terminals and the car parks.

Parking fees for short term parking in car park 1 are around €0.80 for 30 minutes, and around €2.15 for the first hour and each additional hour. Rates are slightly less in car park 2, which is a slightly further distance from the terminal. Car park 3 is the long term car park where parking is free for the first 30 minutes, and then around €1.30 per hour. The airport website is very helpful as it contains a new online facility that enables you to reserve your parking requirements in advance. You can book your parking by selecting the car park you require and entering in the amount of time you need to park. Payments can be simply and quickly made by cash or credit card at the payment stations.
