GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

Bus

Regular buses connect the airport with the city centre. The Glasgow Flyer 500 takes about 25 minutes. Buses also run at night. Buses depart from Glasgow Central and Queen Street train stations, and Buchanan bus station. Airport buses also link Glasgow International with Pacific Quay, Govan underground station, Charing Cross bus station, George Square and the West End. Routes also include Clydebank, Greenock, Dumbarton, Fort William, Kyle of Lochalsh and Portree. National Express coach services run from Glasgow to towns and cities nationwide.

Driving

Glasgow International Airport is easily accessed from Junction 28 of the M8, a few minutes from Paisley. If you are using a satellite navigation system, the postcode is PA3 2RS. Cars can drop off passengers at St Andrews Drive, close to the main terminal, or you can use the short stay car park. If you are cycling you can take the National Cycle Network Route 7 or Route 75. Bicycles can be left in lockers at Car Park 1 next to UK Arrivals. Information regarding traffic conditions is available from the AA.

A taxi to the city centre will take about 25-30 minutes. Taxis can be pre-booked.

Train

There is no train station at the airport but Paisley Gilmour Street train station is just 1 mile away. Regular buses connect the airport with Paisley Gilmour Street. Journey time is 5 minutes. Paisley Gilmour Street has about 6-8 trains an hour to Glasgow Central, Ayr and stations on the Clyde Coast. Train tickets to Paisley Gilmour Street are valid for the connecting bus service to the airport terminal. Glasgow Central station has mainline services nationwide. Getting to the airport by train will be even easier when the Glasgow Airport Rail Link is completed, allowing direct trains to run from Glasgow Central to the airport terminal.

CAR PARKING

Short stay parking is right next to the terminal. Short-stay fast track parking is on Level 2 of Car Park 2. It is designed for stays of up to 24 hours. Long stay car parks are for those leaving a car for the duration of their holidays. A free bus runs from the long stay car park to the airport terminal. Buses run every 5-10 minutes. The journey takes 5 minutes. Parking for bicycles is at Car Park 1 next to UK Arrivals. Pre-booking parking will often secure discount prices. Special prices are often available for midweek to midweek parking or weekends.

Official car parks are well-supervised. If you are using a satellite navigation device, the postcode is PA3 2ST for both short stay and long stay. The airport website has information has updates on road works and potential delays, and details of parking prices.

Prices for parking depend on the type of car park and length of stay. Some of the cheapest parking is with hotels and off-site car parks in the vicinity. Prices for “unofficial” car parks usually depend on the distance from the airport.

AIRPORT AMENITIES

Facilities include the usual choice of airport shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The ambitious £30 million skyhub project will bring significant improvement facilities. The official BAA website has up-to-date information, including live departure and arrival updates.
