German Wings is a low-cost airline operating flights to 67 European destinations, the first in Germany to offer low-cost fares along with connecting flights.
The airlines' main UK base is London Stansted airport, and German Wings' major competitors include Ryanair and easyJet, as well as TUlfly and Airberlin. German Wings operates from its main base in Cologne, and has secondary bases in Stuttgart, Berlin, Hamburg and Dortmund. Destinations served by German Wings include London, Edinburgh, Majorca, Faro and Athens.
German Wings - Offering Smart Connect, a cheaper simpler way to book
With the launch of the airlines' Smart Connect in 2007, German Wings offers customers a cheaper and simpler booking service for connecting flights. It allows passengers to book one ticket for multiple routes served by the airline (on certain routes only), with the added bonus of allowing luggage to be conveniently checked through to the final destination. The companies' frequent flyer programme, the Boomerang Club, offers rewards after only 8 return flights and exclusive offers from the airlines' partners. German Wings' partners include Avis and Intercontinental Hotels Group.

The company was founded in 1997 and remains wholly owned by Eurowings, which in turn is 49% controlled by Lufthansa.
