GETTING TO THE AIRPORT

Train

Gatwick train station is part of the south terminal, a 10 minute walk from check-in. A free monorail connects the north terminal to the south terminal in 2 minutes. There is a choice of trains to Gatwick Airport. Gatwick Express trains from Victoria run every 15 minutes in the day and hourly at night. Journey time is 30 minutes. Local train services from Victoria (Southern/ First Capital Connect) take 30-45 minutes and are much cheaper. Thameslink trains call at London stations (London Bridge, Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon and King's Cross) before travelling on to St Albans, Luton and Bedford. Journey time to King's Cross is 45 minutes. Local and Thameslink trains will be busy with commuters during rush hours. Bicycles are permitted on the Gatwick Express. Cycling to Gatwick is safest on Route 21 of the National Cycle Network. Train times and information can be obtained from National Rail Enquiries.

Bus

Buses are the cheapest way of getting to Gatwick Airport but are much slower. The coach station is at the South Terminal. Most buses also call at the North Terminal. National Express buses depart from London Victoria. Journey time is approximately 90 minutes but allow longer. Direct buses link the airport with Stansted, Luton and Heathrow airports. These services are also subject to delays on the motorway. A Gatwick Hotel Bus Shuttle offers a flat-fare service to any London hotel. Coach tickets can be bought in the arrivals hall and at the coach station. Book bus and train tickets in advance to avoid queues.

Driving

London Gatwick Airport is 28 miles south of central London, at Junction 9 of the M23 motorway, and on the A23 London-Brighton road. The airport is a 10 minute drive from the M25, which allows access to UK motorways nationwide. It takes about 70 minutes to drive to central London, but times can vary considerably due to traffic congestion. If you are driving with satellite navigation directions you will need the postcode for Gatwick north terminal: RH6 0PJ, or South Terminal: RH6 0RN. Consult the AA Route Planner for detailed directions. You can book taxis online and by phone. Transport options also include car hire, executive cars, VIP collections, chauffeurs and limousines.

CAR PARKING

Gatwick has the widest choice of airport parking in the UK, and can be considerably cheaper than both Heathrow and Stansted due to the proliferation of cheap unofficial parking. Prices vary hugely according to the season and even the time of week. We recommend booking in advance to get the best deals. You can pre-book parking with Directline. Your choice of car park depends on budget, convenience and length of stay. Long stay car parks are ideal for both short breaks and longer holidays: Parking Express for the south terminal and Flightpath for the north. Long-stay car parks provide regular free bus transfers to the terminals. Secure short-stay car parks are close to each terminal and are designed and priced for seeing off or picking up family and friends. Whichever car park you choose, the area will be of a high standard and properly supervised. Some customers choose the Meet and Greet valet parking service. Simply drive to the terminal forecourt and your car will be parked for you.

A courtesy bus connects the long stay car park with the terminals every 5-15 minutes. Short-stay parking is very close to both airport terminals. Both South and North terminals have Fast Track short stay car parks with even faster connections to the terminal. Cheap car parks are found outside the terminal. These car parks offer transfers to the terminal buildings.

Prices for parking prices vary according to the type of car park, the distance from the terminal and the length of stay. The cheapest parking can often be found at Gatwick hotels, B&B, and the various car parks outside the airport. Prices for unofficial car parks are often very good value. Virtually every hotel has car parking deals.
