Coventry Airport – Good facilities and paid WIFI access
Coventry Airport is a basic place with decent facilities. You’ll discover Horizons cafe bar in Rapide House, a friendly eatery offering hot and cold snacks, drinks, sweets, newspapers & magazines, toiletries and gifts. There’s also an al fresco dining area; lovely, weather permitting! There’s a Barclays no charge cash machine (ATM) outside the café. After you’ve checked in, check out Destinations Buy and Fly Bar in the departure lounge for beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. And there’s an airport shop - also in the departure lounge – offering a good choice of gifts, perfumes and last-minute reading materials. Bear in mind that Coventry airport doesn’t have foreign currency exchange facilities. There’s WIFI internet access via Horizons car and the departure lounge, which you pay for online or by buying a voucher from either Max Beans or the departure lounge shop.
Coventry Airport Information – Cheap flights
Coventry Airport is used exclusively by Thomsonfly, who offer low cost and last minute flights to twelve prime holiday destinations: Jersey, Grenoble, Faro, Malaga, Alicante, Ibiza, Monastir, Palma, Mahon, Pisa, Salzburg, Corfu and Zakynthos. There’s a private flying club, from where Hungarian businessman Attila Balogh recently set a world speed record. He flew from Coventry Airport to Budapest, Hungary in just under seven hours, alone in a tiny single engine plane. And Blue City Aviation has a private general aviation, cargo and commercial arrangement with Coventry airport, complete with VIP transfer facilities.
Coventry Airport Information – Stay informed about expansion
Coventry Airport has operated as a passenger terminal since April 2004, when airline Thomsonfly set up their low cost flight operation. The current facilities are in what the airport’s managers call a state of ‘Interim Management’, and the terminal buildings are obviously temporary. Expansion plans are in hand but, like all regional airport expansion plans, the complex issues involved mean the wheels of progress are moving very slowly. Coventry Airport is working with the authorities to find a way forward. If things go according to plan, you’ll see a new terminal building designed to cater for a massive two million passengers a year.
