Bucharest Aurel Vlaicu is 9km from the city of Bucharest. It is commonly known as Băneasa Airport or Bucharest City Airport. The airport closed to passenger traffic in 2012. All flights to Bucharest now head for Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport.
The airport was previously used by low-cost airlines like Blue Air, Sky Europe, Wizz Air, EasyJet and Germanwings. EasyJet operated direct flights from the UK.

Express bus 783 runs to the city centre. The bus connects with the underground system at Piaţa Victoriei, from where trains run to the main Budapest railway station. A number of local buses also call at the airport.
Tram number 5 runs to the city centre.
A taxi into the city centre takes about 10 minutes. Make sure the driver turns on the meter.
