Barcelona

Every flight search should consider three Barcelona airports: Barcelona El Prat and airports at Girona and Reus. Barcelona El Prat is the main city airport. Flights to Girona and Reus involve a longer onward journey. All three are served by low-cost airlines. Recent years have seen great-value direct flights with EasyJet and Ryanair. You will also find well-priced flights with Jet2.com, Vueling and Monarch.

Competition from low-cost airlines means competitive fares from British Airways and the Spanish national carrier Iberia.

Barcelona’s deserved reputation as a city break destination means economical flights are available at any time of year. The number of flights increases during the long summer season, when UK tour operators like Thomson provide charter flights to Girona and Reus from regional airports across the UK.

Intense competition between charter and low-cost airlines means some of the lowest airfares to Spain. Flights tend to be more expensive during the summer school holiday period. Many of the best deals are found in early spring and autumn. It is always worth booking as well in advance as possible.
